Dirt, dust, and organic/inorganic pollutants deposit on the surface of photovoltaic (PV) modules and may cause significant economic losses. WSE-A60 is a novel optical photovoltaic dirt sensor that estimates the accumulation rate of dirt on PV glass based on its optical characteristics. It has no designed moving parts and limited maintenance. The fouling rate is a characteristic of the cleanliness conditions of photovoltaic arrays. The dust accumulation measuring instrument approximates the true fouling rate of the photovoltaic array on the sensor surface of the instrument by measuring the influence of dirt. The principle is to assume that the pollution condition of the photovoltaic array is the same as that of the sensor surface (IEC61724-1:2021).
